Abstract

In this study, the pelletizing characteristics and quality of a new material made from a mixture of cattle manure compost and biochar were revealed using a roll-type flat die pelletizer, which is used for fertilizer production and wood pellets. The 25% biochar mixing rate decreased the bulk density of the raw material, resulting in a lower production volume compared to cattle manure compost alone, but the energy intensity, which indicates energy input per production volume, was maintained at the same level. In terms of quality, the 25% biochar blending rate showed equal or better durability and wettability, indicating that it can be used in the same way as cattle manure compost pellets for fertilizer.
