Abstract

We report a case of iliopsoas hemorrhage during immunosuppressive therapy for TAFRO syndrome, which required transcatheter arterial embolization. An 84-year-old man visited his previous physician with a chief complaint of dyspnea. He had bilateral pleural effusions, renal insufficiency, thrombocytopenia, and elevated inflammatory response. Hemodialysis, immunosuppressive therapy and frequent blood transfusion was administered. On the 20th day after transfer, a contrast-enhanced CT scan revealed a right iliopsoas hematoma with extravasation, and transcatheter arterial embolization was performed. Thereafter, the renal function and platelet count recovered. The patient had a good prognosis with local hemorrhage control and treatment of the underlying disease.
