  • STUDY ON REALLOCATION OF ROAD SPACE IN THE ACTUAL CONDITION OF THE MAINTENANCE OF BICYCLE LANES : FOR TOKYO AND KANAGAWA PREFECTURE

抄録

Since around 2000, bicycle riding space has also been maintained on roadways. In Tokyo, the percentage of bicycle-related accidents has been increasing in recent years, especially the number of accidents involving bicycles and pedestrians, and roadways need to be maintained. The purpose of this study is to clarify the actual condition of the maintenance of bicycle lanes in Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture by understanding the road space structure and the space secured by the maintenance of bicycle lanes. The conclusions are as follows. (1) The road space at the time of the maintenance of bicycle lanes has transitioned in the way each space is treated, and the width of the bicycle lanes has also transitioned and diversified. (2) In fact, there are many routes where bicycle lanes are feasible, and in the study of their maintenance of bicycle lanes, a survey of automobile traffic volume and major change in the roadway space may be necessary. (3) In terms of the relationship between bicycle lanes and road space, there is a tendency to maintains bicycle lanes by lowering the road classification, and to maintenance wider bicycle lanes as the width of the roadway increases. The automobile traffic volume and the width of the roadway tend to be organized in a certain degree by the width of the bicycle lanes.
