Abstract
<p> For classical hydraulic jumps with an undeveloped inflow condition below a sluice gate, the magnitude and the distribution of the air concentration have been systematically investigated for a wide range of Reynolds numbers under a given inflow Froude number. The effects of Reynolds number on the air concentration distribution in the jumps are shown. The high-speed video camera images show that the amount of air bubbles into the jumps decreases as the value of Reynolds number decreases if the air-concentration ratios are affected by the Reynolds number.</p>
