Novelist Tsutomu Mizukami not only adapted his own novels for the stage, but also revised them and wrote puppet play scripts to create "bamboo puppet theater. Why was it necessary to apply such an approach to the same work? The purpose of this paper is to answer this question by reviewing the relationship between Mizukami and bamboo that led to the creation of bamboo puppets. In order to answer this question, the research method used in this paper is to first collect Mizukami's various discourses and recollections about bamboo and bamboo puppets, and then organize and examine them in order to explain the motivation for the creation of the bamboo puppet theater. Finally, I will present in the conclusion the structural explanation derived from the motive, and thereby clarify a part of the uniqueness of the author Tsutomu Mizukami from the viewpoint of the creation of the bamboo puppet theater.
