<p>In this paper, an impact resistance behavior of the steel post with higher flexural stiff- ness for the 4 m high rockfall protection fence anchored into the 3 m high plain con- crete retaining wall was numerically investigated by means of 3D elaso-plastic dynamic response analysis method. H-section steel members of H200 × 200 × 8 ×12 were used as the post. The results obtained from this study are as follows: 1) the design force may be evaluated by using fully plastic load irrespective of the magnitude of the input energy; 2) when the loading position is lower, the shear deformation of the post becomes more severe; and 3) the anchoring depth specified by the guideline may be reasonable even though the input energy increases.</p>
