Abstract
<p>To propose a method to detect pile damage, the relationships between pile cap vertical displacement and pile curvature were investigated by E-Defense shaking table tests and 3D FEM analysis. The following findings were obtained.</p><p>The pile damage causes dynamic upward displacement at the bottom center of structure with rocking motion. Therefore, the pile damage can be detected from a significant increase of the upward displacement against the overturning moment, and the degree of the damage can be estimated from the amount of the upward displacement.</p>
