[ABSTRACT] This is a legend of the Even, a reindeer–breeding people of the northernmost of The Republic of Sakha(Yakutia). Their land lies at the mouth of the Kolyma river, while across its tributaries there were the Chukchee, the notable worriers-people in the northeast area of Eurasia. Once the camp of the Even was attacked and wiped out by the Chukchee invaders, when a youth scarcely left alive. They took him prisoner. The youth fortunately succeeded in escape that is the beginning of this story. The “Earless Old Man”, the brother of the father of the youth, took vengeance upon the enemy with the nephew. In their battle with the Chukchee the youth happed to find that the chief of the invaders was a maiden. In the latter part of the story appears the father of the girl-chief who eventually admitted the marriage of his daughter with the youth. The father asked the youth to put the end to own life. Afterward the young couple found three arrows in the wild, that shows them the blessing from the dead. This text was written by G.I. Makarov(1914-1956) based on the Sakha folk tales.
