It is already clear that obtaining the Blue Flag will create partnerships with a wide variety of activity groups involved in "environmental education," "water quality," "environmental management," and "safety assurance and services. Are further innovations taking place at certified beaches? Interviews with Blue Flag certified beaches revealed that practices such as 1) corporate donations to the Blue Flag brand, 2) provision of products that lead to environmental protection, 3) development of upcycled products born from cleanup, and 4) school and student participation are emerging. The Blue Flag is a great opportunity for community development. Blue Flag has become a catalyst for innovation in local community development.
