Abstract

In order to expand communication capacity, study on millimeter-wave applications is widely carried out. To realize millimeter-wave integrated circuits, compact and high performance millimeter-wave devices are indispensable and non-radiating dielectric waveguide (NRD guide) with low-loss and non-radiating nature is considered as a promising candidate of millimeter-wave platforms. For this purpose, automatic optimal design method using computer simulation is useful, and we have developed function-expansion-based topology-optimal design method and optimization method based on mosaic-like concept. Although these methods can achieve the desired transmission property, fine and complicated device structures are sometimes obtained. In this study, we consider a stub-type NRD guide device as a basic structure and optimize its structural parameters to achieve a desired transmission property. In optimal design, efficient and global optimal solution search method is required. We employ Bayesian optimization which can efficiently estimate next search points where the characteristics are likely to be improved based on the information of previous search points.
