<p>  In the manufacturing process for flexible steel plates used for household electrical appliances and automobile bodies, surface treatment is performed followed by contact conveyance using rollers. During this process, the surface quality of the flexible steel plate deteriorates due to friction with the rollers. As a solution, a non-contact gripping and transport method using magnetic levitation technology has been proposed to improve the surface quality. The method of levitating the flexible steel plate is proposed by placing electromagnets at the edges of the plate. Conventional control models consider only horizontal directions of motion, and experiments with this model have shown that it is possible to levitate these plates. However, it was difficult to suppress the vibration amplitude in the vertical direction, which was not considered. In this paper, we propose a new model that also takes vertical motion into account. Furthermore, the levitation characteristics of the conventional system and the proposed system under different experimental conditions are compared and discussed.</p>
