Abstract
In this study, we investigated the preparation process for trips, including visits to one's hometown, and the impact of travel on the daily lives of the elderly. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 13 elderly individuals in City A, Tokyo, and analyzed the data using user-local AI text mining. Setting the goal of going on a trip led to engaging in activities such as regular walks and exercise during the preparation process, as well as conducting research on the destination. It is inferred that setting the goal of traveling contributes to the physical and mental well-being of the elderly. Furthermore, travel served as a catalyst for walking and had a positive impact on the physical and mental health of the elderly through interactions with others and exposure to nature.
