Description
This article aims is to analyze about “economics for the community" based on the one other than Neoclassical theory, which would be necessary for the solution of community problems in the future, focusing on the concept of “public-common. " In Liberal thought, which prospered in the early nineteenth century, the “public" and “private" spheres were completely separate. However, with the New-Liberal thought that prospered from the late nineteenth century, the social circumstances gave rise to the “public-common" sphere. Nevertheless, Neoclassical economics, which came into being then, still followed the way of thinking of Liberalism. Neoclassical economics suggests “the global convergence" between nations or communities based on the unique concept of space. Conversely, “economics for the community" suggests the importance of the “social value" of goods traded in the public-common space named “village market," which could contribute to increasing the local community's sense of belonging.
