<p>Typhoons, which develop from tropical cyclones, are meteorological phenomena that exert a profound impact through heavy rain and storms. This study investigated the transportation of atmospheric bioaerosols (dust-borne microorganisms) by typhoons and provided evidence to support this phenomenon. Rainwater was sampled at the University of Tokushima on August 7, 2017, during the passage of Typhoon No. 5 (Noru). Through amplicon and principal coordinates analyses of rainwater, soil, and seawater, the rainwater was categorized into two groups: one collected during the approach of the typhoon (closer to seawater) and the other collected at a distance. Species composition analysis revealed the detection of marine bacteria belong to the order Synechococcales in the rainwater sampled from the approaching typhoon but not in that sampled from the receding typhoon. Synechococcales were transported to the sampling site in Tokushima City through the mechanism of the typhoon center rising and passing over the sea area. This finding is of concern for public health as Synechococcales contain pathogenic bacteria. The potential impact of typhoons is expected to increase as they become stronger due to rising sea water temperatures, leading to changes in marine ecosystems and influencing terrestrial ecosystems, thereby posing a future environmental problem warranting attention.</p>
