Description

Due to the deterioration of the summer heat environment, behavioral adaptations of outdoor residents and pedestrians are attracting attention. In this paper, we performed CFD analysis to analyze the convective heat transfer coefficient distribution for parasol users. We also evaluated the microclimate around a pedestrian with parasol computational model based on CFD Analyses coupled with human thermos-regulation. The analysis revealed that depending on the method of holding the parasol, the convective heat transfer coefficient near the head can be reduced by about 70%, and the skin wetness in the torso can be reduced by about 10%. Future duel of this study is to clarify the optimal heat adaptation measures for pedestrians through the further investigations on effects of both environmental conditions and types of parasols.
