Description

This study aimed to verify whether in the 2nd grade of elementary school, the teaching materials that enable children to immediately assess the success or failure of a skill task and the teacher's involvement during play with mats and jumping can promote "evaluation and advice" among learners. In this study, the teacher conducted 1 unit of 7-hour classes with 23 2nd grade students. Two methods of analysis were employed to verify the effect: children's verbatim records and text from children's study cards. Consequently, the following was clarified. 1) The teacher prepared the teaching materials that enabled children to immediately assess the success or failure of a skill task, clarified the roles of the children, and displayed "sample words" so that even the 2nd grade children could evaluate their friends' movements. 2) As the class progressed, the children could advise a coach without viewing the sample.
