Description

[Purpose] This study investigated the effect of a systemic approach for a baseball player who had internal impingement symptoms in the throwing shoulder. [Participant and Methods] The case was a high school baseball player who had internal impingement findings of posterior labrum injury and greater tubercle lesion. To ameliorate pain during pitching, a shoulder joint pain management program and a functional improvement program for the upper extremity, trunk and lower extremity were conducted for 40 minutes once a week for 10 months. [Results] The player’s shoulder pain in pitching disappeared and it became possible for him to throw at 90% strength. [Conclusion] The results suggest that an approach for the upper extremity, trunk and lower extremity muscle group is useful for internal impingement symptoms.
