Abstract

We explained semantic memory disorders concerning symbols, people, scenery, and objects. Such memory disorders arise due to issues beyond the category of the sensation. In impaired semantic memory for symbols, individuals become unable to pair the symbol with what it represents. The tip of the left temporal lobe has been emphasized as the lesion responsible in these cases. In semantic memory disorders concerning people, individuals lose knowledge, including that of faces, voices, and occupations. In case of semantic memory deficits with regards to scenery, individuals lose knowledge, including that of scenes, sounds, and places. The tip of the right temporal lobe is the focus of each of these disorders. In impaired semantic memory for objects, individuals lose knowledge, including that of objects' shapes, sounds, and purposes. Lesion of the tip of both the left and right temporal lobes have been emphasized in these cases.
