Abstract
A simpler form is presented for the one-dimensional linear magnetic reluctance of hollow cylindrical iron cores in which magnetic flux enters one end and leaves the other end axis-symmetrically and perpendicularly. The model is a simple extension of that for solid cylindrical iron cores, and it is checked against the analytical one- and two-dimensional models previously presented in the frequency domain. Numerical results from the model are compared with experimental results to show an unsatisfactory result. To improve the model, a simple approach without a reasonable basis is proposed from a practical standpoint. Finally, a method is illustrated to apply the model to the dynamical analysis of simple magnetic actuators with moving iron cores.
