Design of plasmonic racetrack resonators with a trench structure

Description
<jats:p> The authors present a plasmonic racetrack resonator with a trench structure. The depth of the structure and the length of the racetrack straightaways both significantly influence the characteristics of the plasmonic racetrack resonator. The optimum depth of the structure and length of the straightaways have been numerically evaluated by the finite-difference time-domain method. The quality factor of the plasmonic racetrack resonator is 38. As compared to the output intensity of a plasmonic ring resonator with a trench structure, the output intensity of the proposed plasmonic racetrack resonator is greater by one order of magnitude. </jats:p>
