Abstract
<jats:p> The saturation time of the intracavity absorption spectroscopy of a multimode unidirectional traveling-wave ring dye laser was increased to 12.5 ms by reducing the intracavity loss. The absorption coefficient of water vapor lines of 10<jats:sup>-9</jats:sup> cm<jats:sup>-1</jats:sup> was measured with a sensitivity of 5 ×10<jats:sup>-11</jats:sup> cm<jats:sup>-1</jats:sup>. </jats:p>
