The purpose of this study is to identify the challenges in a trial teaching by collecting data regarding the practical instruction abilities of university students through their trial teaching. As for the first trial teaching conducted by the students, high scores had been given to them through refection sheets in terms of their class management skill such as “Trial Teaching Appropriate for Relevant Students”. Meanwhile, low evaluations were suggested for the items including “Questions, Confirmations, Instructions and Explanations from Those Playing Teacher to Those Playing Students” needed in conducting a class. With regard to their second trial teaching, the improved evaluation scores were observed for the items where lower scores had been given. As the number of trial teaching was increasing, a certain degree of achievement was gained in the fields of oral communications and individual engagements initiated by the students playing the teacher to those playing students. Reflection sheets showed a tendency to have fewer comments pointing out problems and indicating areas to be improved. This study has revealed the unresolved challenges that further efforts are necessary to be made regarding the class contents including how to prepare a course unit structural drawing, efficiently use reflection sheets, manage the meeting held after a trial teaching and reflect on a trial teaching by the group responsible for it.
