Description
This paper presents some points to be remembered when spread foundations are designed and constructed. In order to design reasonable spread foundations, it is essential to check their bearing capacities and settlements. It is also very important to well understand the meanings of the design formulas and to consider the ground conditions of the construction sites. To warn the people who have learned geotechnical engineering and are going to start working on foundation designing and construction, the paper also presents some unsuccessful examples of spread foundations.
