Abstract
This paper describes a brief review of dose assessment methodology for tritium and activation products released from fusion reactors into the environment. Accident consequence assessment codes for fission reactors are utilized for evaluating the dose to the public from the release of activation products. Further development of a database of dose conversion factors and food chain transfer factors is needed for the important activation product nuclides. Requirements for a dose assessment code for an accidental tritium release and the related environmental tritium behavior are also described. Such requirements will be useful in licensing and regulation of a future fusion experimental reactor.
