説明

Garbage composting processes were followed by changes of water soluble chemical components, extracted from solid samples. They were amino acids, low fatty acids, peptides, polysaccharides, and total organic carbon, organic and inorganic nitrogen contents well as gel filtration. While the ratio of total organic carbon to total nitrogen in water extracts decreases markedly during the course of the composting reaction, the transformation in forms of nitrogen in water extracts proceeds simultaneously. For well matured composts a linear relation between the ratio of total organic carbon to tatal nitrogen and the ratio of organic nitrogen to total nitrogen, both in water extracts, was found to be held. From this relation, it was directly determined that the C/N-org. ratio in water extracts is 5.88. This coincides well with the present authours' previous proposal of that the C/N_<-org> ratio in water extracts of well matured compost should be 5 to 6.
