Abstract

The objective of this paper is to classify the famous modern lights and to find out those design characteristics from the viewpoint of the components and elements. 919 lights from 1870 to 2004 published at "1000LIGHTS Vol.1" and "1000LIGHTS Vol.2". 469 lights from 1960 to 2004 (present) were analyzed in the previous paper. The following elements and components were adopted for investigation: configurations, attachment instruments and lighting distribution. The lights were classified by cluster analysis based on the above components and elements. Seven groups were classified. Those premiere groups were divided into 50 small groups. The following characteristics were find out in each group: transformation, mechanical, curve-type, accented form, feeling of float, solid geometry, and decollation.
