Abstract
The Ikegami-Shinmachi crossroad in Kawasaki city is an intersection of the metropolitan expressway between Tokyo and Yokohama, which consists of a suspended four-lane road, six-lane ground level road under the express way, and another ground-level road that intersects the two roads. To mitigate the high concentration of pollutants, a multi-scale CFD model was used to investigate the diffusion in the vicinity of the crossroad. The concentration depends on the wind velocity, direction, and small obstacles, such as sound-arresting (green) walls the suspended road.
