Description

The purpose of this paper is to clarify the characteristics of passing scenery in road movies whose themes are traveling and transfer. Three movies by Wim Wenders were selected as objects. The still pictures were picked up and recorded from sequences of these movies. The landscape elements in the pictures and camera angles were extracted. Those elements were analyzed by using Hyashi's Quantimized Theory 3. Two axes which indicated subjective-objective and quiet-active, respectively were obtained. The scenes were classified into 9 groups by the cluster analysis. Each groups represented different camera frame composed with combinations of positions of road and buildings. Those scenes also indicated feelings and situations of characters after the composition of the scene.
