Abstract
In 2001, Tokyo gas has started operation of the world's most extensive ultra-high-density real-time seismic motion monitoring and disaster mitigation system The system, "SUPREME", employs the New SI (Spectrum Intensity) sensor, DCX (telemeter equipment) and Remote shut-off unit The SUPREME can observe status (pressure etc) of 3,700 district regulators and shut off them remotely, if necessary, in its supply area The remote shut off using SUPREME effectively reduces gas leakage risk The SUPREME can also estimate damage of pipeline with high precision in the case of great earthquakes, and gives information about amplification of ground motion at various points in ultra-high density based on waveform records for small earthquakes to prioritize replacement of facilities and to raise precision of damage estimation
