For the preliminary test, the antiseptic power of V. K in the agar medium was examined, and it was found that V. K_5 was so effective as V. K_3 but it was necassary to use more than 0.03% for the prevention of the growth of microorgamisms.As for the pH value, it is effective at the acidic side, lower than pH 5.0. At pH 6.0 V. K_5 and V. K_3 are effective, but S. V. K_3 does not show the reliable result.For the application of V. K as an antiseptic for the fish-paste, one group was immersed in the solution of V. K, and the other was mixed in the paste during the process of manufacture, and they were kept in an incubator at 30℃.The both methods had given satisfactory results ; 0.02~0.03% solutions of V. K_5 and S. V. K_3 were effective for one day, and 0.01~0.015% solution of V.K_3 for 2 days.
