説明

The unit of the lenght of measuring ropes for the assessment of taxation used since the medieval ages in Japan was often changed. But it was not actually clear because the real articles were yet to be discovered. Mr.M.Yamagishi, however, has found out a perfect measuring rope at the ancient warehouse of the Hosokawa feudal clan in Kyushu. A "ken" of the rope is about 196.6cm long and it had been used before Hideyoshi standerdized a "ken" by 190.9cm.
