説明

The buprestid genera Buprestis and Cypriacis are regarded as two distinctive genera mainly because of the difference in pronotal features. The former is classified into five subgenera, Buprestis s. str., Knulliobuprestis nov., Orthocheira, Pseudyamina and Stereosa, chiefly on the features of antennae, posterior tarsi, male anterior tibiae, first ventral segment of abdomen and the surface of elytra. The latter is split into four subgenera, Cypriacis s. str., Akiyamaia nov., Himalobuprestis nov., and Nelsonocheira nov., by the same reasons as in the preceding genus. Buprestis splendens FABRICIUS and B. niponica HOSCHEK, formerly placed in Cypriacis, are transferred to Stereosa. Didonia THERY may be a synonym of Polyctesis MARSEUL of the subfamily Polycestinae. The Australian genus Neobuprestis KERREMANS formerly placed in the tribe Dicercini actually belongs to this Holarctic group. It stands closely by the North American subgenus Cypriacis s. str. of the genus Cypriacis. The distribution of this genus-group including the Palearctic genus Eurythyrea is discussed.
