Abstract

We encountered a neonate who was diagnosed prenatally with tuberous sclerosis and rapidly developed cardiac failure due to the tricuspid rhabdomyoma and a rapidly growing left renal mass after birth, necessitating intensive care with PGE1 administration. Initially the renal mass was considered self-limiting nephroblastomatosis but the growth of the tumor was so rapid that nephrectomy might be inevitable. After cessation of PGE1, however, the tumor turned to shrink and the biopsy revealed it to be a glomerulocystic kidney disease, not a neoplasm.
