Abstract
For the purpose of the mitigation of heat island phenomenon, the authors developed new methods to evaluate the effect of sea breeze on urban thermal environment. These new methods help to clarify that high temperature area of inland in the summer daytime is caused by advection from windward area. To investigate the effect of urban composition, these new evaluation methods are applied to Tokyo Metropolitan area. Analytical results show that strong sea breeze leads to spread of the sphere of influence of sea breeze in inland area. However, heat release from windward area, namely, central area of Tokyo, is also transported to leeward area.
