We have been being in very severe economical condition for quite long time on the global scale, which is supposed to last in the future. The Material & Mechanics Division in JSME owes a duty to make a significant contribution to high-efficient manufacturing process in such a state. A few research programs belonging to the research field of M&M-division have been adopted for national research projects. The prospective discussion is requested to settle significant and attractive research subjects between researchers/engineers working for academic institutions and industrial companies. Then the framing of the road map is recommended for important engineering subjects in the future. In addition the much more intensive educational activities are expected of the M&M division.
