Description
We report herein the case of a 12-year-old boy with an unresectable low grade glioma (LGG) who survived for more than 8 years after diagnosis. He was diagnosed as having a hypothalamic LGG with meningeal dissemination at the age of 10 months, and received peripheral blood stem cell transplantation after multi-agent high-dose chemotherapy. The residual tumor, however, began to grow again at age 4. Although the tumor was diagnosed as a 'stable disease' for 46 months during weekly treatment with vincristine, it regrew again despite substitution of temozolomide. Subsequently, vinblastine was discontinued because of intratumor hemorrhaging after it was administrated weekly for 37 months, and the mass was diagnosed as a stable disease.
