Aged piping of nuclear power plants has possibility to have some defects such as SCC cracks and local thinning. In this study, the local wall thinning was examined. On the basis of the test data in pilot research project of National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention, breakdown behaviors of pipes were analyzed by Finite Element Method. The analysis has been carried out for thinned wall straight pipes, and verification of the analytical model and consideration of the failure mechanism were carried out. The study of this paper used the analytical technique for elbow piping with some kind of shape of local wall thinning, and it evaluated the relative tolerance.
