Description
We established the magnetic phase diagrams of Ce_<0.75>La_<0.25>B_6 by the ultrasonic and specific heat measurements. The results of the present experiments confirm the existence of the ordered phase IV in Ce_<0.75>La_<0.25>B_6. In the phase IV the transverse C_<44> mode exhibits an enormous softening indication a remarkable quadrupolar fluctuation of O_<yz>, O_<zx> and O_<_<xy>>. On the other hand no sign of the long-range ordering is observed in Ce_<0.6>La_<0.4>B_6 by the present ultrasonic measurements. The critical cerium concentration x_C locates between x=0.6 and 0.75, which differentiates between the ground state of Ce_xLa<1-x>B_6 to be a non-magnetic Fermi liquid state and that to be a long-range ordered state.
