Description
Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems are an important tool when the modem control theory is applied to designing a controller of practical system. Recently various CAD systems of control systems have been developed. However all these systems are based on numerical calculations. Hence they are not available for the problem in which the parameters of mathematical models are given as symbols. A CAD system which can handle symbolic parameters is necessary for the approach to the structural problem of control system. So the authers are developing a symbolic manipulation CAD system. This paper explains the outline of this system. First in section 1,the motivation is clarified by using simple electric circuits. Secondly section 2 treats the symbolic process language, LISP and symbolic and algebraic manipulation system, REDUCE 3. Thirdly section 3 describes how to construct the CAD system based on REDUCE 3. Finally section 4 deals with the actual examples and shows the availability and several points of this CAD.
