Block-like movements were found in data of first levellings in 1920's and 30's which were named geodedic block movements, but their geologic meanings have been left to be solved. The authors show in this paper that the geodetic block found in the northeast part of Chiba Prefecture is intimately related with the geologic structure of late Quaternary formation, and it is formed by vertical movement of pre-Tertiary basement blocks.
