説明
An ecological study on drosophilid flies living at watersides was carried out in southern China in 1987. In such area, the following 7 species were recognized as waterside dwellers : D. latifshahi and D. daruma (polychaeta group), D. potamophila and D. beppui (quadrisetata group) D. lacertosa (robusta group), D. fluvialis (ungrouped but has relationships to the robusta group) and D. wakahamai (ungrouped but has relationships to the virilis-repleta radiation). As they were abundant at stony watersides but rare at narrow stream waterside, peculiarity of waterside environment for drosophilid flies is characterized by not only existence of water but also stony waterside environment. Of these species D. latifshahi is the commonest species at various kinds of watersides, while D. potamophila, D. beppui and D. fluvialis are relatively common in some places. Consequently, abundance of the species belonging to the polychaeta or quadrisetata group seemed to be one of the characteristics at waterside environment in the Subtropical Region, though such space is shared by the species belonging to the robusta or virilis group in the Temperate Region or more northern region of the Old World.
