Abstract

In a great volume of the common color name which was formed in the past 3000 years of Chinese history, how can be we select or "dig up" a very practical color name set for common use ? Must it be selected by authority ? or we can have other choice ? Base on the latter thinking, this research have made a through investigation by interview people as many as possible to gathering color name as our sample. Statistics was made for each color name by the employment of the above mentioned data. So, one can see color name including in these set are more important than any others in common use due to it high frequency. From this research one also easily knows the general character and trend of these color name when they are classified according to different color spaces.
