Remarkable reduction of turbofan engine noise of aircraft has been achieved for a few decades, but nevertheless it has been main noise source yet, especially at takeoff. In this paper, JAXA's new conceptual transport aircraft, which has elliptical wide fuselage and V-tail and mounts engines above aft-fuselage portion, is discussed with community noise around the airport. Shielding effect of engine noise (fan noise and jet noise) by airframe is evaluated by EPNL at three reference points defined by ICAO and comparing with results of conventional aircraft. It was confirmed in the conceptual design phase that JAXA's new aircraft was effective for reducing community noise.
