Description
The digital computer system far the automatic start, stop and full power operation of the boiler has been developed and tested using a test boiler. The test boiler used was a once-through type boiler with a single water-tube and pressurized furnaces. The developed control program consists of three parts ; Start up program, Monitor program and Stop program. The start up program transfers the boiler state from the cold state to the full power operation, where the boiler is controlled by usual ACC system. At the full power operation, the computer monitors the boiler conditions according to the monitor program. When the power is stopped, the boiler is again operated by the computer system to the cold state in compliance with the stop program. The program also contains a task to reset the all instruments of the boiler system to prepare for the next start-up. It is demonstrated that this computer system is capable to operate the boiler automatically and safely from the cold state to the power operation and vice versa. We believe that the success of experiments for the test boiler promises the possibility of applying the similar system to larger boiler units and nuclear plant systems as well.
