Abstract
We examined the air conditions in existing smoking rooms where two cigarette smoke separators and a ventilation fan were installed. Although the mean concentrations of dust and CO were less than those specified by the Japan Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare, both parameters exceeded the guidelines at times of peak usage. It was speculated that the ventilation system was insufficient for the maximum number of people using the room. The results confirm that the semiconductor gas sensor enables improved analysis of odor compounds present in cigarette smoke.
