Description

On ground investigation_ on small buildings in Japan, Swedish weight sounding (SWS) has been more widely used, compared with the SPT (Standard Penetration Test). Recently, the Building Standard of Japan has been revised. There still remain many issues with which the SWS cannot deal. In ground investigation of the residence, both economical and accurate methods, such as the CPT (Cone Penetration Test), are being more required as for investigation method. This paper reports the actual state and problems of ground investigation methods, and the results of the CPT in small buildings areas in Japan.
