This manuscript discusses the current problem in the short courses held by the Japanese Geotechnical Society and proposes a reform plan. Each short course held by the headquarters of JGS has been planned and managed under a single year system, considering the current trend and needs in our geotechnical engineering field. However, the number of participants has decreased year by year and the income and expenditure balance has been getting worse. A drastic reform is required. Then, the committee for the JGS short course organized a working group, in which the problems are examined and a desirable reform plan is proposed. In this manuscript, a report from the working group, that is, all short courses should be categorized and rearranged into several main courses and so on, is presented.
