In this study, we analized antioxident and anti-inflammatory and skin whitening of water extract of Portulaca oleracea and examined activity of hair growth and convergence effect astriction through clinical tests. As a result of the test of DPPH radical scavenging activity of Portulaca oleracea, it was over 87% 250 μg/ml. ABTS radical cation decolorization activity of Portulaca oleracea was over 99% 250 μg/ml. All extracts used in this study showed an inhibitory effect on LPS-induced NO production. Tyrosinase inhibitory effects of Portulaca oleracea were very low. The test of astriction, it is shown to be effective in astriction by turning sensitive scalp to being normal scalp. It is also effective in the effectiveness of hair growth in that the thickness of a hair and hair density go up to a high level. Thus, through this study, it is considered that the effectiveness of water extract is approved as a material of hair cosmetics which can be widely applied to its field.
