Transverse colon pouch with total replacement of the ureter by reconfigured colon segment

A wide range of techniques have been developed and almost all segments of the gastrointestinal tract have been used to reconstruct the urinary tract. However, urinary reconstruction that functions according to physiological principles and improves quality of life may be difficult to achieve in some clinical situations. Confronted by complete ureteral loss in an irradiated patient, we attempted to create a continent transverse colon pouch. Inspired by the recent literature,' we replaced the ureteral defect with a reconfigured colon segment to bridge the gap between the pouch and kidney.
