Description
This paper evaluates ABR traffic characteristics when ABR traffic shares the bandwidth with CBR or VBR. In such cases, it is likely that the CBR and VBR traffic will be given priorities higher than that for ABR;therefore. the existence of CBR/VBR cells may cause the bandwidth available for ABR time varying. Therefore, we need an ABR control algorithm that can cope with this variation of the available bandwidth. In this paper, we investigate control algorithms that consider CBR/VBR traffic, then evaluate their characteristics under various traffic conditions. Furthermore, we clarify the technique that makes control algorithms to be able to work well.
